Two roads

Two roads
      diverging.
One I know much too well.
                 Traveling it brings only disappointment.
          The other new, untried.
                 Difficulty gives way to joy.

Two roads
        waiting.
            A choice encountered 100 times.
And each time fresh and daunting.
Lump in my throat, heart in my stomach.
                   The sharp edge of change.

Two roads
       One well-worn and clearly marked.
       I face the wild one.

Thanks to Robert Frost’s The Road Not Taken for inspiration.
